How does Detailed Maids work?

We clean. You relax.

Detailed Maids is a Toronto based, family-owned business providing house cleaning services. Our focus is on Quality, Consistency and Reliability.

We specialize in a very detail oriented cleanings, pre-showing cleanings and finishing post-construction cleanings.

How are we different from other maid services?

Unlike other cleaning services that subcontract their job requests resulting in having different people and therefore delivering inconsistent job, with us, you know you are getting the best, because we train our team members and we supervise them regularly. We are not a franchise, we are a family owned business, and our best interest is your 100% satisfaction.

We developed a system that all our customers greatly appreciate. All of our team members are highly trained, and use the same process ensuring all areas of the home are covered. This way we continue delivering consistent and very detailed level of cleaning service.

What areas do we serve?

We serve areas east of highways 427 and 400, south of Major Mackenzie Drive and west of Victoria Park Avenue.

For one time cleanings we would consider serving across the GTA.

Which services we DO NOT provide?

At this moment we do not provide following services:

  • Ironing
  • Wash and fold
  • Cooking
  • Washing dishes
  • Tiding up
  • Cleaning of toys
  • Cleaning inside fireplace
  • Exterior house cleaning

What is the cost of house cleaning service in Toronto?

According to HomeAdvisor, on average, you’ll pay anywhere from $25 to $90 per hour for house cleaning service. As stated by MoneySense, you can get cleaning for as low as $20 an hour, but the go to rate for most cleaning companies in Toronto is between $35 and $45 an hour.

Prices for a cleaning service versus an individual vary widely.

Choosing a cleaning company gives you piece of mind as they carry liability insurance, they are background checked and they operate according to provincial and federal laws.

How can I get a quote?

How do I book a cleaning?

Once you receive a quote and you decide to proceed with booking the appointment, just give us a call or respond to our cleaning quote email.

We will discuss the date and time that best suits your needs and our availability.

To finish booking your appointment, we require a credit card on file. It will not be charged until after the cleaning is done if you choose to pay by credit card, and you are 100% satisfied with the cleaning.

What if I am not home?

In case nobody will be home at the time of Detailed Maids team arrival, you can provide us with either a key, or door/ garage code beforehand.

Another option would be the lock box with the key installed somewhere outside of your home. You can provide us with the code and once we are done, we will return the key to the same spot.

Alternatively, you can leave the key in the mailbox on the day of the service and we will return it upon finishing the job.

What if the team is late to my home?

We kindly ask to allow our teams 15-minute arrival window due to weather and traffic conditions.

In case the team is late due to unforeseen circumstances, the Detailed Maids customer representative will call you ahead of time to let you know that team is running late and give you their ETA.

Are Detailed Maids pet friendly?

We love animals, but they will not always like us. If you think your pet may become overly anxious while we are there, please make temporary arrangements while we are in your home.

You can leave detailed pet instructions during the scheduling process as well.

Cleaning

Difference between one time and regular cleaning?

The difference between one-time cleaning and regular cleaning services is in frequency.

We clean the same way for both, one-time cleanings, and regular cleaning appointments. The difference is in time needed to clean. It takes much less time to clean on regular basis than occasionally.

Do I need to provide anything for the cleaning?

You don’t have to worry about providing any cleaning supplies. We bring everything we need for the cleaning.

Our team comes fully equipped with nontoxic Eco-friendly products, HEPA filter vacuum, microfiber clothes and other cleaning supplies needed.

What kind of products do you use?

We use nontoxic Eco-friendly products that are safe for you, your family and your pets. They do not contain any harmful chemicals, nor have any scent what so ever. So, if you or your family members are sensitive to scent or have allergies, we can assure you that our products are completely safe.

Why do we need deep cleaning first?

From our experience, first cleaning always takes longer than recurring cleaning appointments. Therefore, we charge initial cleaning by the hour as we are not exactly sure how long it will take.

However, we will provide an estimate based on size of your home. It might be less, it might be more than estimated, but on initial cleaning we are setting our company standard and then maintain that standard with regular appointments going forward.

We understand that you might have had cleaning services before, and/ or you do cleaning and maintenance of your home yourself, but we need to make sure we have enough time to clean the house in the way all our customers appreciate and value. It is in our best interest that you are happy and satisfied. And because of that, we do require initial cleaning prior to the regular appointments.

What is the difference between initial and regular cleaning?

The difference between initial cleaning and regular cleaning services is in time needed to clean your home. That initial deep cleaning usually takes longer than regular maintenance, so it is charged by the hour, while your regular bi-weekly or monthly visits are charged a fixed price.

On initial cleaning we are bringing your home to desired level of cleanliness and maintain that level on each subsequent visit (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly).

For example, on initial cleaning baseboards might need to get washed (sometimes scrubbed) and on bi-weekly visits it is just a wipe down of dust. Same is for doors and door frames. On initial cleaning they are thoroughly cleaned, and regularly it is just a wipe down and spot cleaning.

What cleaning frequency should I choose?

There is no difference between weekly, bi-weekly and monthly appointments in terms of areas included in cleaning service. We would do everything the same whether we come every 2 weeks or once a month.

When it comes to frequency, that is completely up to you. That’s just a matter of how often you would like or need to have your home cleaned. However, we would recommend having your home cleaned on bi-weekly basis as it is the best balance between cost and cleanliness of your home.

But, keep in mind that monthly cleanings will take longer then bi-weekly or weekly visits as there is a longer gap in between appointments.

Am I getting the same day and time for my regular cleaning service?

Yes, you do. The first/ initial cleaning we schedule for the first day that we have available and that best suits your schedule. And for ongoing appointments you would have the same day and time for each appointment.

Let’s say you want bi-weekly cleaning service and we agree on Mondays at 1 PM. That means we would come to clean your home every second Monday at 1 PM.

Am I always getting the same people cleaning my home?

Most of our staff members have been with us for quite some time. We always try to have the same people clean same homes, but sometimes that is not possible.

However, we are very involved with the cleaning and organization of our staff, so we make sure that they know what needs to be done. We don’t like to send somebody somewhere and say: “off you go, figure it out”, because our interest, as well as the interest of our staff is that you as a client are satisfied with the cleaning.

We do make sure that at least one team member has been in your house before and is familiar with you and your home cleaning details.

Additionally, we have client cards with details for each house. We write on them any specifics and/ or details that one would need to know about cleaning your home. 

How long will my cleaning take?

Length of the recurring cleaning depends on square footage, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and similar details about your home.

For reccuring cleaning appointments we will always stay in your home for the same amount of time. Give or take couple of minutes.

And for one time cleanings we provide the estimated amount of time, but it will depend on number of factors. For example: condition of your home, number of furniture, number of pets or people living in your home,… etc.

 

Can I ask for some extra services?

We offer some additional cleaning services you can add to your cleaning at your own desired time. We do not provide these services on regular basis as some of you might want us to clean, for example the fridge once a year, some of you will require every 3 months.

These are the services you can request at any time to be added to your next cleaning appointment. You will be charged for additional time the team spends in your home.

  • Inside of fridge
  • Inside of oven
  • Exterior windows that are reachable from the ground
  • Patio or front entrance exterior cleaning

Trust and Safety

Do you offer a guarantee with your service?

We absolutely guarantee your 100% satisfaction and promise to do the best we can to make your home sparkling clean and fresh.

If you are not 100% satisfied, please contact Detailed Maids within 24 hours of your service and we will re-clean the areas that were not done up to your satisfaction at no extra charge.

How dependable are Detailed Maids staff?

Not only are Detailed Maids teams professional, honest and trustworthy, every member is insured and thoroughly trained. They enjoy great working conditions, share the Detailed Maids values and take pride in a job well done.

Are you insured and bonded?

Yes, we are insured and bonded. We carry $5 million general liability insurance for your piece of mind. 

Is my billing information kept safe and secure?

Our website has an SSL certificate which is required to process electronic payments.

Credit card transactions are processed by Wave Accounting and is layered on their own 256-bit security protocol.

Also, no credit card numbers are stored in our system (only a token that allows us to charge the card). Rest assured we take security very, very seriously.

What are your COVID-19 safety protocols?

We care about safety of you and your family, as well as the safety of our team members. Precautions that we are taking regarding COVID-19 are as follows:

  1. Equipment is being cleaned and disinfected after each cleaning.
  2. Staff wears masks, gloves, and they wash and disinfect their hands after each cleaning.
  3. Our team members travel with company provided cars which minimizes use of public transit.
  4. We use Hydrogen Peroxide based cleaning solution for cleaning and disinfecting.

Payment and Policies

Do you have a minimum charge for home cleanings?

There is a minimum charge of $140 + HST = 4 man hours for the cleaning.

What is your cancellation policy?

Your appointments are very important to the Detailed Maids team. They are reserved especially for you. We understand that sometimes schedule changes are necessary. Therefore, we respectfully request at least 24-hour notice for cancellations or rescheduling of appointments.

Cancellation fee

Any regular cleaning appointment missed, late canceled, or changed without 24-hour notice will result in charge of 50% of your price. For one time cleaning we will charge our minimum charge of $140.

Please understand that it is your responsibility to remember your appointment dates and times to prevent any missed appointments, which result in a cancellation fee. Not receiving an electronic notification of your appointments from us the day before is not sufficient reason to miss an appointment if the original confirmation notification was received timely.

Emergency absences

Emergency absences will be considered on an individual basis by Detailed Maids.

Why we charge cancellation fee

The 24-hour cancellation policy gives us time to inform our wait list clients of any availability, as well as keeping our staff schedules filled, thus better serving everyone. Detailed Maids policies are presented and provided in the best quality and tradition of excellent service for our established and future clients. Thank you for viewing and supporting our 24-hour cancellation and rescheduling policy criteria.

How can I pay for the cleaning?

We accept credit cards, bank transfer, cheque or cash.

Please note, you can choose any of the above options, but we would still require a credit card on file (collected over the phone) prior to the cleaning.

There will be no charges until the cleaning is done. And we would follow up with you a day after the cleaning to make sure everything was OK and you were satisfied with the cleaning. If so, we will then process the payment should you decide to pay with credit card. Cheque and/ or cash are collected at the end of the cleaning.

When does my card get charged?

Your card will be processed the day after the cleaning has been performed.

One time cleanings are followed up with the email 24 hours after the cleaning was completed assuring your 100% satisfaction. Once confirmed, we will process the payment.

You will receive an automated email from Wave Accounting with the link to your invoice and receipt once we process the payment.

What do you need to reserve a date for cleaning?

Detailed Maids require credit card on file to complete your booking. Your credit card will be entered into Wave Accounting software which is fully encrypted, and your data is safe. No credit card numbers are stored in our system (only a token that allows us to charge the card).

Your credit card will NOT be charged nor pre-authorized until the cleaning is done, you are completely satisfied with the job done and you chose to pay by credit card.
